My Pro-Choice Perspective

What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
Being "Pro-choice", for me, is of course about reproductive freedom; it is about our shared right to that, and our rights to that without shame or apology. But it is, in a broader way, also about my clinical vantage point in general: I believe in my clients' agency & discernment, I believe in my clients' capacities to make their own decisions and to truly lead their own lives, and I also believe in their ability to work with whatever these decisions bring with them. Coming from a place of equity, humanity, & mutuality in this work and in the world--Pro Choice is the only place to stand.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
Reproductive Freedom, Bodily Autonomy; these terms are ways of saying something very simple: we belong to ourselves. My body is mine; Your body is yours. When this core truth is in question; when it is up for doubt or debate, we suffer. Womxn suffer, children & families suffer--EVERYONE suffers in a context where we are not--ALL--this most basic version of free.
