My Pro-Choice Perspective

What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
For me, to be a pro-choice therapist means creating a safe space that supports clients’ autonomy and decision-making power in all areas of their lives, especially the areas where it can feel so stigmatized to talk about. This includes advocating for reproductive rights, providing nonjudgmental support around decisions related to pregnancy, abortion, contraception, and family planning, and empowering clients to define what choice means for them. It also involves recognizing the systemic barriers that marginalized communities, including people of color and LGBTQIA+ individuals, face in exercising their rights and addressing these challenges with sensitivity and care.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
Every individual deserves the right to make decisions about their body and life without fear of judgment, coercion, or systemic barriers. Supporting reproductive freedom is about affirming a client’s humanity and honoring their ability to make the choices that align with their values, needs, and circumstances. As a therapist, I see my role as creating a space where clients can process their experiences, reclaim their agency, and feel confident in their right to live their lives on their own terms.
