My Pro-Choice Perspective
What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
Shouldn't all therapists be pro-choice? It almost seems ironic that a therapist wouldn't want all people to have body autonomy. For me, it means that I am providing a space and declaring that I am not here to judge the decisions you make for yourself and your well-being.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
Not only am I a clinician, but I am also a social worker. I chose social work as my area of study because I wanted to work within vulnerable communities to improve lives and advocate for social justice. Reproductive freedom and body autonomy are seen as human rights, and these rights provide individuals the freedom to decide what's in their best interest for their health and wellness.
