My Pro-Choice Perspective

What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
It literally means that I believe all people should have access to choice. Certainly, this relates to abortion, sexual choices, and the ways they may or may not want to relate to their body's way of showing up in the world. I believe that being pro-choice means examining why our gut instincts are what they are, why we feel shame that is in conflict with our beliefs, and ultimately being able to make a choice about how to exist in the world in the bodies we have.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
We grow up in the social systems we are born into, whether we consent or not, and many people are taught that what they do with their bodies is their choice (or not!), while also being inundated with social messaging about what they should do or how they should want to be. I am deeply committed to each person finding their own path and using their body's knowledge to guide them toward what is right for them.
