My Pro-Choice Perspective
What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
I create space, without judgement or agenda, for clients to explore the different facets to decisions about abortion and pregnancy. I affirm clients' right to make decisions about their own bodies.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
As someone who has gone through two pregnancies I believe the trauma of having to undergo forced pregnancy and birth is something no person should have to endure. I am also acutely aware of the rates of maternal mortality in our country, especially for Black birthing people, as well as the lack of infrastructure that exists in our country when it comes to supporting families with babies and children.
I believe reproductive freedom is a basic human right. I also understand that decisions related to pregnancy and abortion are deeply personal and often nuanced in a way that those fighting to strip these rights away don't understand. I see forced pregnancy/birth as a form of violence that no one should have to experience.
