My Pro-Choice Perspective
What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
To be a pro-choice therapist means to me that I am supporting my client's right to choose and never forcing any beliefs on them. Never pushing beliefs onto client's is what any ethical therapist should do. The client deserves to make decisions for their body and have a support system behind them.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
The changes going on around us right now are scary, especially seeing it as a female that recently had a daughter. Reproductive freedom and body autonomy are absolutely crucial for the physical, mental, and emotional health and well-being of individuals and their families. When we have reproductive freedom and body autonomy, we have the ability to make informed decisions for ourselves and our bodies - which in turn provide us with a sense of control, higher levels of happiness and wellbeing, and empowerment. Reproductive freedom and body autonomy allow individuals to exercise their basic human rights.
