My Pro-Choice Perspective
What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
To me, being a pro-choice therapist means deeply respecting and supporting each person’s right to make decisions about their reproductive health, as well as their life in general, in a way that feels right for them. Practicing from a person-centered perspective, it’s about honoring their autonomy, fostering a safe and compassionate space where they can explore their options without fear of judgment. My role is to empower clients by helping them feel heard, respected, and supported, so they can make choices that align with their values and needs, knowing they are in control of their own journey
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
Reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy are important to me as a clinician because they are essential to supporting each individual’s unique journey toward self-determination and well-being. I believe that everyone deserves the freedom to make decisions about their own body in a way that feels right for them, without fear of judgment or external pressure. When individuals, especially women and young adults, have the ability to make choices that align with their values and needs, it fosters a sense of empowerment, self-respect, and confidence. As a counselor, I strive to create a space where clients feel safe and supported in exploring these deeply personal decisions, knowing they are in control of their own path.
