My Pro-Choice Perspective
What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
Being a pro-choice therapist means that I unconditionally support a person's right to make decisions about their own body, health, and future — without judgment or shame. It means creating a safe, affirming space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings about pregnancy, abortion, infertility, adoption, or any reproductive experience without fear of bias or stigma. My role is never to impose my own beliefs, but to empower my clients to make choices that feel right for them — whatever those choices may be.
Ultimately, being a pro-choice therapist means standing beside my clients, not above them. My job is to hold space, offer support, and promote self-trust — empowering each person to make the best decisions for their own life, without judgment, pressure, or shame.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
As a clinician, reproductive freedom is important to me because it directly impacts a person's mental health, autonomy, and overall well-being. Everyone deserves the right to make decisions about their own body, health, and future — without fear, shame, or judgment. When people are stripped of that autonomy, it can lead to increased anxiety, depression, trauma, and a deep sense of powerlessness.
Whether someone is navigating an unplanned pregnancy, infertility, loss, or any reproductive challenge, they deserve unconditional support and the right to make choices that align with their life and values. My role is to provide a safe space where people feel empowered to make those decisions without pressure or judgment, and to process any complex feelings that come with it.
