My Pro-Choice Perspective
What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
Being a pro-choice therapist means meeting individuals where they are at. It means embracing individuals' choices about what they know is true and best for them and creating a space to practice self-compassion.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
Prior to working in a pregnancy clinic, I identified as pro-choice. However, my experiences deepened my commitment to reproductive freedom. I encountered and families facing unforeseen circumstances, such as complications affecting the fetus, the health of the mother, or sometimes both. Witnessing the heartbreak of patients placed in impossible situations reinforced my belief that individuals and families need to have the right to make decisions that are aligned with their personal values and beliefs. No one should assume such a profound risk or responsibility against their will.
