My Pro-Choice Perspective

What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
It means I focus on my client's journey and what they wish to process in the context of the therapeutic relationship. It means committing to examine and set aside any lingering internalized stigma of mine surrounding abortion, in order to be fully present to the experience of the person I am meeting with.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
I was raised in a conservative, Christian household. As an adult, I have been unpacking and examining the assumptions I internalized about abortion due to this early life experience. The more I embrace my own autonomy and right to choose what is best for my future and body, the more passionate I become about supporting others in reclaiming and asserting their bodily autonomy.
