Reproductive freedom and body autonomy are important to me because at the core of what I do as a social worker is centered around these principles. My job is to promote client autonomy, not just over their bodies, but for any decision they are making in their lives. My clients know themselves best and they are the experts of their lives so it's important to allow them to be in control of their narrative. Social workers believe in the dignity and worth of the person regardless of their background or circumstances that brought them to us. Reproductive freedom is important to me as a therapist and as a woman because I believe that no one should have the right to dictate or make that decision for someone else despite what we might do in their shoes. Social workers strive to create a just and equitable society where we all have the same access to resources and opportunities, and this includes reproductive care. We live in a free country and it's important that clients feel they have choices in their care and what to do with their bodies.
