My Pro-Choice Perspective
What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
Being a pro-choice therapist to me means being a safe space for client's to process their thoughts and feelings related to their reproductive health choices. It means a client will never have to second guess how I might respond when they tell me they are thinking about getting an abortion or had an abortion at some point. They know they will receive unbiased support and excellent clinical care as we process their experiences.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
As a proud intersectional feminist, reproductive freedom and body autonomy have always been incredibly important issues to me. My passion for this topic was only strengthened when I started specializing in pregnancy and baby loss in my clinical practice, working specifically with parents of TFMR. So many of my TFMR clients' grief and trauma has been compounded by internalized shame and discrimination around abortion.
