My Pro-Choice Perspective
What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
Being a pro-choice therapist means that I support clients through all stages of their personal reproductive journey using a compassionate, non-judgmental, and affirming approach, and supporting clients with making choices that feel most aligned to their unique values and circumstances. This also means openly holding space on my professional public-facing pages, in advocacy efforts, and creating an affirming therapy space for clients to feel invited to process abortion for any reason, termination for medical reasons, ending a wanted pregnancy, pregnancy and infant loss, fertility, IVF, third party reproduction, and adoption journeys, single parents, co-parents, blended families, and family constellations with care and compassion.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
Reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy are important to me due to personal, professional, and ethical values to uphold human rights to self determination, access to safe health information and medical care, protecting and advocating for the rights of marginalized and oppressed groups, and working towards social justice.
