My Pro-Choice Perspective

What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
For me, being a pro-choice therapist means not only supporting a client’s right to make decisions about their body, but being informed enough on this topic and the various nuances associated with it to provide services that are less likely to cause harm towards a client dealing with any issues pertaining to abortion.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
As a clinician, I see on a weekly basis how concerns around reproductive freedom and body autonomy have impacted the gender journeys of many of my non-binary clients. When there is already a feeling of a lack of safety in one’s skin due to their gender identity and how it is perceived by the general public, this sense of danger is only exacerbated when one’s ability to have control over planning their potential families is also under threat.
