My Pro-Choice Perspective
What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
To me, being a pro-choice therapist is being a therapist who believes that my clients are capable of making decisions that most align with their values. I also see being a pro-choice therapist as decision that aligns with both the ethics of my profession, and my personal ethics. I see being pro-choice as an ethical stance that promotes equity and justice.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
As a client-centered therapist, I firmly believe all people are given the resources needed to live authentic and meaningful lives that align with their values. I believe in the right for people to have agency over their own lives, and restricting reproductive freedom and body autonomy severely impacts agency and stifles peoples inherent resources. As a result, I see reproductive freedom and body autonomy as an ethical imperative in promoting the well-being of people as a whole.
