My Pro-Choice Perspective
What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
I prioritize autonomy with clients in all respects, including with regard to personal decisions they may face related to abortion. I support people who have abortions as well as those who determine an abortion is incongruent with their personal values. My stance on autonomy and justice means that I support safe and legal access to abortions.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
Autonomy and justice are core ethical tenets of clinical practice. Supporting body autonomy and reproductive freedom are ethical mandates at the most basic level. Additionally, restricting reproductive freedom and body autonomy violates human rights and creates barriers to well-being.
