My Pro-Choice Perspective
What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
In my eyes, being a 'pro-choice' therapist doesn't just mean I support reproductive choices, but also that I empower clients to make confident decisions for themselves in a world full of distractions and chatter. My job is to help clients quiet those distractions and chatter and get in touch with visions they have for their own lives.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
As a therapist, it's important to empower clients to make the best decisions for themselves. People can't do that unless they have reproductive freedom and body autonomy. Such issues are wrapped into other social justice issues such as racism, sexism, able-ism and poverty. I want to empower my clients to make decisions for themselves and be confident in their values. People cannot have total freedom without complete choice around what they do with their bodies.
