I also provide a safe space for Abortion Affirming Therapy. Abortion is a lonely place. We often question if we have the right to grieve because there was a choice involved to terminate the pregnancies. This is called forbidden grief (disenfranchised grief): not supported in your grief because it is not culturally recognized or validated. The reality is abortion happens & you�re not alone in your grief. Whether your abortion happened yesterday or 30 years ago, Abortion Affirming Therapy can help.

I utilize a Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) through a grief and loss lens to help you process through the variety of emotions you could be experiencing. Some mixed emotions that may arise are: grief, gratitude, guilt, shame, relief, sadness, anger, regret, fear, and resentment. Your partner may experience some of these feelings as well, whether they were apart of the decision or if they learned about it after the abortion. The SFBT approach uses compassionate, respectful and effective treatment that gently helps those who are grieving counterbalance the most painful aspects of loss by gently bringing out positive emotions regarding the pregnancy loss and/or how they are finding ways to cope with the loss. Gradually, we will formulate small practical steps forward towards honoring your decision.
