My Pro-Choice Perspective
What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
To be supportive and affirming of all individual choices when it comes to reproductive health and know that clients are the foremost experts on themselves.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
I believe that forcing people to give birth is wrong, an extreme burden, and can be dangerous to the birthing person as well as the future child. I have worked in family law, and as a Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteer assigned to foster children's cases and seen what it looks like when children are unwanted or unable to be cared for. I believe in birthing peoples rights to decide what happens to theirs bodies and what is best for them long term. I realize that abortion is always available to the wealthy and that criminalizing abortion unfairly affects marginalized and poor folks.
