My Pro-Choice Perspective
What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
I am passionate about being a pro-choice therapist, because in our current social and political environment, it is important to make my stance as a therapist knows. Social and relational pressures and stigma around reproductive choices causes harm, and as a therapist it is my role to create a safe and affirming place free of stigma. Being a pro-choice therapist means I am making clear my belief that it is your right to choose and that I am here to support you in making whatever choice is right for you.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
I practice from a feminist and social justice lens, and believe that it is every person's right to choose what to do with their own bodies. Reproductive freedom and body autonomy is a social justice issue, and as a therapist I believe it is my role to support you in figuring out what is the best choice for you. No one else can know better than you what is right for you. As a therapist that also specializes in eating disorders and body image, body autonomy and feeling safe in one's own body is a core aspect of my work, and I believe this is important for all people no matter what they are going through.
