My Pro-Choice Perspective
What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
To me, being a pro-choice therapist means supporting all people who can get pregnant to make the decisions that feel best for them based on their own unique needs, circumstances, and preferences. I see this as a natural extension of my aim to practice therapy in an anti-oppressive manner that critically examines and holds space for different aspects of clients’ intersectional identities. I also see this as a natural extension of my aim to use a nonjudgmental, empathetic, and trauma-informed approach to cultivate self-acceptance and self-compassion in ongoing therapy.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
I believe that reproductive freedom and body autonomy are essential aspects of all people who can get pregnant's right to self-determination. I respect and honor each individual as the expert in their current life circumstances and needs based on these circumstances. You know what is best for your life and your body, and are allowed to make decisions accordingly. As the person living in your body, you deserve full control over your body, life, and future.
