My Pro-Choice Perspective
What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
To me, a "pro-choice therapist" supports individuals' rights to make their own reproductive health decisions, whether it's to continue or terminate a pregnancy. It would mean providing an environment that is non-judgmental, supportive, respects clients' autonomy and choices regarding contraception, pregnancy, childbirth, and abortion, and can provide resources to their clients.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
As a clinician, reproductive freedom and body autonomy are important to me because they empower not only the individuals I see, but myself, to make informed decisions about reproductive health. In my work as a therapist, upholding these rights is necessary so that people can access the care they need while respecting their values and circumstances, promoting health equity and social justice.
