My Pro-Choice Perspective
What being a Pro-Choice Therapist means to me:
Being a pro-choice therapist means I hold complexity and nuance around what it means to navigate abortion in the context of these times. I lift up and honor an individual’s right to choose what is right for their body, health, and life. I approach without assumptions, holding close to a client’s specific experience, knowing there are as many different abortion experiences as there are people having abortions.
Why I think bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom are important:
I view bodily autonomy as a fundamental human right. As a clinician who focuses on supporting people navigating chronic pelvic and/or vulvovaginal pain conditions, so many of whom have had their experiences dismissed and have not received the healthcare they need, reproductive justice is at the foundation of my work. Each individual deserves the right to choose what is right for their body and health, and to access healthcare accordingly.
